Susan's Passport

Susan's musical journey began shortly after moving from Florida in second grade. She started playing piano with her grandmother and was introduced to the clarinet in fourth grade by her band teacher, Mr. Tracy. Her love of music continued to grow, and in eighth grade she joined jazz band, where she began playing tenor saxophone. Susan has also challenged herself through NYSSMA, performing her first solo on clarinet last year and expanding to two solos this year—one on clarinet and one on tenor saxophone. Outside of music, Susan enjoys drawing and expressing her creativity through art. She looks forward to continuing to develop her musicianship and explore new opportunities at Crane Youth Music Camp.

"Music is something that I can express myself with, and it's something that I can just go and enjoy and have fun with."
